The Obama administration continues to demonstrate support for policies that run against the grain of Americas traditional Christian values. They refuse to defend marriage and continue to support abortion at every level. Most recently we have seen an “end run” around the will of the people as Obama remains determined to fund Planned Parenthood.
In June, the state of New Hampshire exercised its right to decline renewal of a $1.8 million contract with Planned Parenthood of New England. The state’s Executive Council voted to revoke a $1.8 million contract.
In response to this decision by New Hampshire, the Obama administration, will award Planned Parenthood of Northern New England $1 million dollars. Administration officials did not provide any competitive process for other non-abortion agencies to compete for the $1 million grant. It is obvious that this is simply an end run around the will of the people of New Hampshire.
Councilor David Wheeler, one of the members of the council, called the decision by the Obama administration one of “arrogance” because the will of New Hampshire officials was not followed. “Even though the state of New Hampshire turned down Planned Parenthood as a contractor, the Obama administration says you’re going to take it anyway, whether you like it or not,” Wheeler said.
Jennifer Frizzell, a senior policy advisor for Planned Parenthood, told the paper that the abortion business will wind up with 16 months of the 18 month grant it would have received has the Executive Council renewed the contract. Planned Parenthood will receive the grant in monthly disbursements from the Obama administration.
Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List, is upset with Obama. “In June, the state of New Hampshire exercised its right to decline renewal of a $1.8 million contract with Planned Parenthood of New England, which operates clinics – including those where abortions are performed – in the state. It is well within the purview of the New Hampshire state government to decide not to continue to subsidize America’s abortion giant with taxpayer dollars.”
While many states are moving to de-fund abortion, and the nations top provider of abortions, Planned Parenthood, the Obama administration remains committed to promoting and funding abortion regardless of the will of the people.
