Those who listen to Gates will never hear the word “Christianity”  pass his lips.  Why?  Because he’s a centrist and moderate, while Christians are ideological and conservative.

     Gates makes it clear that he’s planted his secular flag in the center between left and right.  It’s a place where look-alike Republicans and Democrats can “reach across the aisle” because they share a common interest in management expediency.  Best to run the numbers to see who should get what.  Don’t be bogged down by value systems of any kind.  No need to even be consistent about your own decisions.

     In a diverse, multicultural world full of atheists, sexual deviants, and religious fanatics of every stripe, Gates’ moderates employ the only standard they come close to supporting: moral equivalency.  Christianity is just one more ideology.  Forget about heritage and tradition.

      Gates is a social technocrat, no more, no less.  Values and religion are soft concepts.  He can work for any president because he’s freed himself even from political identity.  Not bad if you’re running in a political campaign.

    Best to brand all people who side with old fashioned concepts of morality as part of the lunatic fringe.  Is it surprising that Gates, Obama, and Biden all see gay lifestyles as neither left or right, but moderate, centrist, and non-ideological?

If you live in or near South Dakota, plan to come to Rapid City for the event of the summer!!!

If you don’t, buy a plane ticket or get your oil changed in your car and get here anyway, you won’t regret it!

Oh, they are still there delivering a sermon each week.  They have just abandoned their responsibility to speak to the political issues of the day.

Political issues are moral issues.

Pastors are RESPONSIBLE to speak to the moral issues of the day.  It’s their JOB!  They are SHEPHERDS in charge of guiding their flocks.  Thankfully, there are still some who take their political responsibilities seriously.  God bless them!

To the others, who choose to ignore political issues, refuse to identify Godly candidates and challenge their congregation to vote for them… SHAME ON YOU!

Pastors should challenge their parishioners to register for a pro life party, work for-financially support-and vote for candidates who LIVE Christian values.  They should also identify candidates who DO NOT meet the moral criteria of the Christian faith.

The Catholics have provided some leadership in the area of LIFE, by saying anyone who is a candidate or supports a candidate that is “pro abortion” should not take communion.

Now, the Catholic church is stepping up to lead the way in the November elections.

This ad speaks volumes about the Catholic church.  Will Protestant pastors follow this Godly example??  I hope so.  America’s future depends on it!

She wanted to sell me some Girl Scout cookies.  It wasn’t easy to tell her no.  I just said “I’m sorry, I would love to buy some cookies, but I can’t as long as the Girl Scouts organization supports Planned Parenthood”.

It has become increasingly obvious that the Girl Scouts are closely associated with Planned Parenthood.  The Girl Scouts CEO, Kathy Cloninger openly admits it in this news video.

Lest you think I am exaggerating this connection, you should know that the evidence has become so strong that the nation’s Catholic bishops are coordinating an investigation of the Girl Scouts.

Life News recently gave this report,

For fourteen year,s the Girls Scouts in Waco, TX co-sponsored a sex ed conference with Planned Parenthood. “It’s Perfectly Normal” a book written by a Planned Parenthood executive was  given to all children in attendance says abortion can be “a positive experience.” And in January 2012, Girl Scouts employee Renise Rodriguez wore a “Pray to End Abortion” t-shirt during off-duty visit to her Tucson Girl Scout office and was ordered to her to turn the shirt inside out or leave.

The adults supervising the cookie sales event at WalMart were not very happy with my comment, even though I was not unpleasant in any way.  I suspect they do not know about the connection, don’t want to believe it… or worse yet, endorse it.

Either way, this story is not likely to go away.  Many are praying that the investigation by the Bishops uncovers enough evidence to end this unholy alliance once and for all, and that the Girl Scouts, once again can represent what is right and wholesome for young American girls.

     The secularization of society seems to be proceeding without being challenged.  It’s not enough to simply “go on record” about where the church stands.  To meet the everyday wide-open advocacy of gay rights by politicians and the media, established religions have to be more confrontational.  Muslims are willing to take a stand in public when their moral standards are threatened.  Christians should too.

     The worst response for churches is to remain silent, perhaps not wanting to offend members of the congregation who feel that they can pick and choose whatever, as if there is no moral authority they must answer to.  Churches that don’t speak out frequently and forcefully are actually broadcasting their own doubts about what’s right and wrong.

   Most Protestant churches don’t like to take on larger social issues, as if it’s always the individual who must make the choice between right and wrong, after studying the Gospel and other teachings of the church.This approach doesn’t come close to being an effective response to the overwhelming secularization of society we are witnessing.  Homosexuality is fueled by sexual hedonism just as the 1960s was, but is very aggressive in the absence of moral restraint and tradition.

     The problem won’t go away.  Libertarian secularists won’t stop pushing the moral envelope.  A loving, caring relationship isn’t enough of a commitment.  Next will come advocacy for incest, pedophilia, bestiality, and beyond, using the same faulty logic. God has given us not only moral guidelines, but the active ability to fight against evil.  Defensive silence and passive acceptance will only make things worse.  Do we need to ask Muslim fundamentalists to conduct workshops for us?

She was a remarkable woman.

I didn’t say she was perfect.  She would have been quick to tell you that herself!

She was a wonderful Mom in many ways.

In her last few years, her mind was stolen from her little by little.  Even so, one of the last things she said to me was “I love you”.

Laughing came easy to her even though her life was not always easy.  It was a contagious laugh that infected many.

She was well known to many as “Grandie”.  Scores of people considered her their friend, in part because she befriended everyone, especially those who needed a friend the most.  There was always enough to share with someone in need, even though there were difficult times.  Back “in the day” I remember her counting the number of hot dogs in a package to make sure there would be enough to go around.

During her teaching career she changed the lives of hundreds, maybe thousands of children with her stern discipline and tender heart.  It is very common for me to encounter a mom or dad today who asks me “Are you Mrs. Howie’s son?  She was my favorite teacher.”  I am never surprised, but always blessed.  In order to complete her teaching degree she worked long hard hours and drove late nights to Spearfish from Rapid City for classes.  She got it the old fashioned way… she earned it!

After she retired from teaching she began to focus more heavily on her “goat career”.  She was always a lover of animals, many times to my fathers consternation.  I recall her crying when she and dad sold our milk cow.  It was not unusual to see an ad in the local paper as she sold rabbits, ducks, chickens and many other critters.  I don’t know if she thought it was quite as funny as I did when I would call her pretending to be a legitimate customer.  She was always so excited to get the “customer call” that she was easy to engage.

Mom loved the trips to our ranch.  We took many rides together through the buffalo and longhorns.  Her enjoyment of animals is something I inherited, but tempered a bit by my fathers genes.

What my mother instilled in me most, though, is a compassion for those less fortunate, and the importance of living an honest life helping others.

I miss you Mom.

Obama is evolving into a loser.

Thanks to his gay, lesbian and trans-gender radical friends, Obama was forced to reaffirm his long standing support for aberrant lifestyles by supporting gay marriages.

The stakes for the nation have never been higher. Now that the White House has ended its hypocrisy on marriage, the window of opportunity for the GOP is wide open. Despite liberal aversion to social issues, life and marriage have been the deciding factors in a number of national elections. If Republicans will take this opportunity to distinguish themselves from the President and his party on marriage, they will create the intensity that’s been lacking in their core constituency.

Conservative leaders have quickly emerged to affirm what the GOP platform states, which is that Republicans have been, and will be, at “the forefront of protecting traditional marriage laws in the states and in Congress.”

The sanctity of marriage is not to be taken lightly. Sanctioned by God, this sacred union between a man and a woman must be respected, preserved, and fostered as the foundation for healthy and prosperous families and communities.

Even the Republican National Committee, that bastion of wishy-washy big tenters issued a strong statement in defense of the GOP platform on marriage.

Bad policy on marriage is also bad strategy. The political landscape, particularly in swing states, tilts heavily toward the pro-marriage candidate. InOhio, a recent poll shows 35 percent of voters support same-sex marriage with 52 percent opposed. InPennsylvania, opposition to gay marriage is at 50 percent, with only 38 percent approval. Same-sex marriage is opposed by a plurality of voters inIowaand Virginia. Both are battleground states. And inFlorida, a survey shows gay marriage support at 38 percent approval, 48 percent disapproval.

Obama’s bravado is predictable. His campaign is in trouble, deep trouble, and he knows it.

Expect more desperation moves soon.

Around the world there are people in desperate need.  For the moment, though, I am talking about something much closer to home.

You might WANT a lot of things in your life, but what do you really NEED?  Probably not much.

I began to ponder this question after an encounter with an advertising salesman.  I initiated the contact, expecting to discover how this person could help me meet my need by delivering customers to see my product.  What I got was a response I didn’t expect.  The salesman began telling me why he couldn’t deliver what I needed unless I was committed to his method of advertising.  The conversation quickly became a contest.  He wanted to “convince” me and I was not interested in being “convinced”.  I ended the conversation by telling the salesman to think and pray about it, and call me if he thought he could help.  WOW!

So what was the problem?  Perhaps it was me.  Perhaps it wasn’t.  I think the salesman immediately jumped in to “sell” me without having any understanding of what I really needed.  A cardinal rule in sales is the two point plan for successful selling: 1. Discover the need.  2. Sell to the need.  How can we ever close the deal if we do not first understand the need?  Needs unknown are needs unmet.

Relationships are like that as well.  Are you getting what you need in your relationships?  If not, it might be that the other person does not KNOW what you need.  Have you told them?  They may not be aware of what your needs really are.  If they were they might be anxious to meet those needs.  It’s also possible they don’t care.  Even so, wouldn’t it be helpful if you KNEW that?

Write your needs on a piece of paper.  Think about it, pray about it and revise it.  Then give it to the person you are hoping will meet those needs.  Their reaction may surprise you.  I have a friend who is able to express his needs in our relationship.  He simply said “I don’t want a friend who isn’t willing to spend time with me”.  That is pretty simple and transparent.  We have a wonderful friendship.  If your needs aren’t being met in  a relationship you might want to try this.

Even God thought it was important to communicate some things in writing.  He personally WROTE, with his own hand, the ten commandments.  He also said “You have not because you ask not.”

TELL the person in your relationship or circumstance what you need… if you dare.  ASK the person in your relationship or circumstance what THEY need… if you dare.  Amazing things will happen!

A politically desperate White House, occupied by a morally bankrupt Obama, finally has testified of his “evolution” on same sex-marriage. Even in a rare outburst of honesty about his shockingly un-Christian beliefs, Obama was not honest enough to admit that he has always supported gay causes and increasingly anything secular so as to energize his political base.

He obviously missed the message from North Carolina.

However, for once, the President is bringing his words in sync with his actions. From opposing state marriage amendments to refusing to defend the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) to giving taxpayer funded marriage benefits to same-sex couples, the President has undermined the spirit and the letter of the law.

Obama has also, once again, displayed the overwhelming sense of doom in the White House regarding his prospects for re-election. He is not a politician, he is a childish ideologue bent on advancing secular socialism in the US. His self-centered world view renders him deaf and blind to the true core beliefs of Americans.

Redefining marriage remains outside the mainstream of American politics, especially in the critical battleground states and among minority voters. In North Carolina, the amendment received more than 60 percent of the vote in majority-black counties.

If anything, today’s announcement almost ensures that marriage will again be a major issue in the presidential election. The President has provided a clear contrast between him and his challenger, Mitt Romney.

Romney, despite his Mormon religion, has signed a pledge to support a marriage protection amendment to the US Constitution.

Obama, in his pandering to aberrant secular beliefs, may have handed the key to social conservative support to Mitt Romney, who has been unable to do so himself to this point.

He won’t admit it, but I bet Carville is just livid.
